Earth, Our Home

It’s kind of odd to actually write “Earth, Our Home”. We live here, and we know that, but it’s not like we had a choice, right? We’re not living on Earth because we didn’t like the views from Pluto, the heat of Mars or because the property values on Saturn weren’t up to par… Despite that, it is our home. What do you appreciate about it? Do most of us consciously think about daily gratitude for our planet? Here is a small, personal list of what I’m thankful for today.
- Starting with the floor under my feet, I’m grateful for the resources of this earth that have made my little nest a comfy home.
- And the street outside, I’m grateful for the smooth travels it provides - for visiting so many other areas.
- And the trees I can see from my window, I’m so grateful for the full, bright green leaves that brighten my day, the changing colors during autumn and how they look so majestic when covered with snow.
- The flowers and wildlife that still abound in this city - when I think I’m just surrounded by concrete, I look around and am thankful for the copious nature that fills in any gap it can find.
- The vast beaches and shores that aren’t too far away - I am always grateful knowing I will visit and spend time along the coast in the coming summer months.
- As I imagine looking out towards the sea, I am thankful for all the distant lands that I have visited and those I have yet to explore. The anticipation of future travel across this planet is a gift I cherish.
From the tiniest treasures of the earth to the deepest seas and largest forests, this planet is our home - and something to be grateful for. Today, take a moment to consider at least one thing about our planet that you are grateful for and consider sharing it on Thankfulfor.com.

This spectacular “blue marble” image is the most detailed true-color image of the entire Earth to date. Using a collection of satellite-based observations, scientists and visualizers stitched together months of observations of the land surface, oceans, sea ice, and clouds into a seamless, true-color mosaic of every square kilometer (.386 square mile) of our planet
