Thankful Person’s Guide to Places to Eat, Shop & Play

Guest post by Julia Osovskaya
Did you know there were places out there especially fitting for a thankful person? Well, you’re about to find out what they are and where they’re located. Consider it your guide to places where one can eat, shop, go for a walk, play, pray and enjoy the sights thankfully.
First on the map is Café Gratitude in San Francisco’s Bay Area. The food and people here are a “celebration of aliveness”. Finest organic ingredients are selected to honor the earth, local farmers provide sustainable produce and food is prepared with love. Café Gratitude invites you to step inside and “enjoy being someone that chooses loving your life, adoring yourself, accepting the world, being generous and grateful every day, and experiencing being provided for”. Come and be nourished thankfully!
Next stop takes us to Paris, France, to a lovely concept store called Merci (French for “thank you”). Merci mixes together exclusive designer products with casual items, vintage furniture with new generation interior designers, has several restaurants and even a perfume laboratory, and all these decorated with “merci” signs throughout the ever changing space. It’s also a store that gives back - profits go towards helping underprivileged children in Madagascar.
Last on the list, but definitely not least, is the Thanks-Giving Square in Dallas, Texas. This public-private complex consists of three components: a landscaped park operated by the non-profit Thanksgiving Foundation, a major section of the underground pedestrian network and the Bullington Truck Terminal. The park, designed by architect Philip Johnson, is dedicated to promote the concept of giving thanks as a universal human value. The complex also features (wait for it, this is going to sound beautiful) the Wall of Praise, Ring of Thanks, Circle of Giving, Chapel of Thanksgiving, Hall of Thanksgiving and Exhibit Area.
Know of any other worthy places to put on our thankful version of the “must visit” list? Do share!
